Materials Selection

All of the lumber we use is hand selected to ensure there are no defects that will effect the structural integrity of the stairs.

The lumber is stacked and dried to 12% moisture content before being processed into finished pieces.  This allows us to discard any wood that cups, bows, twists or cracks prior to cutting.

Routered Edges

Paint and stain has difficulty sticking to a sharp edge.  Hard shoe soles wear away the wood edges on the treads.  We router all of the pieces to have rounded edges so the paint/stain lasts longer.  Our tread nosings have 3/4" rounded edges so the wood doesn't wear away.
